The Crimean Bridge

Longest Bridge in Europe

A link between Crimea and Russia and the longest bridge in Europe, the rail section of the bridge projected for completion.  The bridge has been considered since 1908 and after the Russian annexation of Crimea in 2014 the plans were started; the bridge provides support for both road and rail traffic. It has a length of 18.1km. It’s considered to be the longest bridge in all of Europe and Russia. The biggest challenge for the project was without a doubt the fact that it is across a tectonic fault. The problem has been got around via 7,000 piled driven up to 91m below the surface of the water. Built to last earthquakes. Some are sceptical to the durability of the bridge due to the tectonic and sea current conditions in the strait, but only time will tell.
